The STAUD firm’s fascinating history dates all the way back to 1653. At that time, shortly after the turmoil of the Thirty Years’ War, the young Matthäus Staud opened a cabinet-making workshop in Saulgau. With his craftsman’s skills and a great deal of tenacity he built it up into a good-going business.

Since then, the love of working in wood has been passed on from father to son, down the generations. There was always an heir ready to carry on the family tradition, now spanning 10 generations. So the history of the firm can be traced back over 350 years.
